Today, our Grade 1 students captivated us with a wonderful play about the four seasons. They talked about the fruits, vegetables, clothes, and activities associated with each season, and presented verses from the Qur’an related to each of the four seasons, deepening their understanding of the natural world and its divine significance. The students explained how seasonal changes affect humans, animals, and plants, discussing how certain fruits and vegetables grow best in specific seasons, the appropriate clothing for different weather conditions, and various seasonal activities. This project helped them develop research and critical thinking skills as they gathered information, public speaking skills through their presentations, and collaboration skills as they worked together on the performance. Additionally, they enhanced their understanding of science and nature by exploring the impact of seasonal changes, all while fostering a sense of humility and appreciation for Allah’s creation.
After the play, the kids enjoyed a delicious fruit chaat together. During this fun discussion, they talked about the different appearances of fruits, noting which ones have seeds and which do not. This activity encouraged their observational skills and an appreciation for diversity in nature. Sharing food and engaging in conversation promoted social interaction and etiquette, and they learned to express gratitude (shukr) to Allah for His blessings, reinforcing the importance of thankfulness. This holistic approach to their development (tarbiyah) focused on nurturing humility, expanding their knowledge, and appreciating the interconnectedness of life. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, enthusiasm, and the variety of skills they have developed through these activities. It was a joy to see them apply their knowledge in such a creative and engaging way.
