With the grace of Allah (swt), Al Haadi School organized its first annual summer day camp. The overarching figure of this camp was Ibn Sina (d. 1037) a Muslim polymath and water was chosen as this year’s camp theme, a sacred gift of Allah to all living things.
Students were encouraged to dress in their ethnic clothes to remember their roots and tradition. Not only do these activities allow us to maintain our heritage, but also allows students to ponder on valuing, respecting and keeping them alive in their tiny hearts.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلْتَنظُرْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ لِغَدٍ [59:18] O believers! Be mindful of Allah and let every soul look to what deeds it has sent forth for tomorrow. Self-reflection – or muhasaba – is the act of reexamining our roles, responsibilities, and behavior as Muslims, in order to find opportunities and areas for growth and improvement. At Al Haadi School, both staff and teachers are encouraged to participate in self-reflection throughout the year both in formal and informal settings. The last few weeks students had been trying out and training for various activities ranging from standing long jump, running long jump, sprinting, spoon race, sack race, three-legged race etc. in order to prepare for the Al Haadi School’s annual Track & Field Day on June 10th, 2022. Students from Kindergarten to grade 8 all participated in various competitive activities on a day jammed packed with activities and sports. The day ended with an awards ceremony, where participants were given a certificate of participation, and first, second and third place winners were given medals.
On May 31st, 2022, Al Haadi School invited Shaykh Mahdi Rastani to the school. Shaykh Mahdi is an instructor at the Mizan Institute (https://www.mizaninstitute.org/instructors), the Religious Director for Wisdom Academy (https://www.wisdomacademy.net/) and the Resident Aalim of City of Knowledge center in Dallas (https://cfkdfw.org/).
We would like to extend our appreciation to all of Al Haadi School’s staff, event coordinators, and volunteers who helped us organize a successful BBQ event. We had over 350 attendees visit the school and experience the significant changes and improvements the school has made over the year. We also want to give a round of applause to our Grade 1 to 8 students, who worked so hard during their Entrepreneurial Club, working on a product or service, and taking it from a mere conception in the mind to fruition!
Al Haadi School will be organizing a community-wide Eid BBQ on Saturday, May 14th between 1:30 PM – 6 PM. Come out and enjoy this event where Al Haadi Students will be setting up stalls selling products they have been working on during their Entrepreneurial Club, bouncy castles, numerous children’s activities and educational workshops and more!
