Grade 8s engaged in experiential learning at the Pickering Museum Village today, where they learned the importance of being literate – a springboard to freedom. They also learned about the importance of Oral History, Culture, Understanding the Night Sky for Mapping, finding Directions using Compass, Materials and Methods used in Building a simple Fence and House, the Social and Economic aspects of Fencing, Using a saw to cut trees, writing history by reading census documents, code language in objects & poetry, settlement patterns, and more. It was a day of holistic learning – in line with the Holistic Pedagogy at Al Haadi School.
