Grade one students prepared and sold fresh mango juice and mango smoothies to the whole school. The activity was connected with Math, English, Science, and Social Studies, helping students learn in a fun, practical, and meaningful way.
Math Connections
• Money concepts through buying and selling
• Measurement while preparing the drinks
• Collecting and organizing data by tracking sales, favorite choices, and student preferences
English Connections
Students practiced speaking and communication skills by interacting with teachers and classmates, asking and answering questions, and using polite and respectful language during the activity.
Science Connections
In Science, students learned how healthy foods and fresh drinks give our bodies energy to grow, learn, and stay active. They also discussed the importance of making healthy food choices.
We connected this learning to the blessings of healthy foods mentioned in the Qur’an. Allah mentions beneficial foods and drinks such as fruits, dates, olives, honey, and milk, reminding us of the nourishment and blessings He has provided for us. This helped students appreciate healthy eating habits and understand the value of natural foods.
Social Studies Connections
In Social Studies, Grade 1 students have been learning about the continents and exploring different countries around the world. They learned about important features of countries such as languages, traditional clothing, national fruits, animals, birds, and other special characteristics. Throughout the activity, students demonstrated beautiful akhlaq, teamwork, and excellent patience by waiting calmly until the end of the activity to enjoy their juice and smoothies.
This experience helped students build practical life skills, confidence, cooperation, communication, and responsibility while making learning enjoyable and memorable.
