As part of our Grade 1 Science unit on animals and their characteristics, students participated in an exciting field trip to Reptilia Zoo. This hands-on learning experience allowed them to observe reptiles up close and make real-life connections to what we have been studying in class, such as how animals move, what they eat, how they protect themselves, and the various habitats they live in.
This trip supported the holistic development of each child by nurturing curiosity, strengthening observation skills, and deepening their appreciation for the natural world. Students were able to see firsthand how every reptile its colours, patterns, movements, and unique features are a sign of Allah’s perfect creation. They reflected on how Allah has designed each creature with exactly what it needs to survive, from sharp claws and strong tails to camouflage and special body coverings.
Through this experience, students were able to: Identify the basic needs of animals (food, water, shelter). Compare different body features and understand their purposes. Recognize how Allah creates every living thing with wisdom and balance. Express gratitude for the beauty and diversity found in nature. Students also enjoyed some fun and engaging time in the play area, adding joy and excitement to the day. A heartfelt thank you to our tour guide and to our dedicated volunteers Sr. Zainab, Sr. Asma, and her husband, for their support in making this trip a success.
