At Al Haadi, we strive to offer holistic development (tarbiyah) that nurtures our students spiritually, communally, ethically, physically, intellectually, and in essential life skills. This Ramadan, our Grade 1 students wholeheartedly engaged in meaningful activities that helped them grow in all these aspects.
Each day began with a beautiful act of kindness, fostering the spirit of generosity and compassion. The children practiced small yet impactful gestures, such as sharing their lunch, helping a friend find a lost item, offering warm greetings, and making heartfelt duas for one another. These acts strengthened their ethical values and sense of community.
To deepen their spiritual connection, the students spent time reciting Surahs and reflecting on their meanings. Understanding the importance of Thursdays, they began the day with the recitation of Hadith al-Kisa, filling the environment with peace and blessings.
A special initiative was the “Quran Dawr,” where students sat in a circle, taking turns to read from the chapter one by one. This not only improved their intellectual growth by enhancing their Quranic fluency but also built confidence and teamwork as they helped one another when needed.
Another key goal was to recite Surah al-Qadr twice daily, as recommended, ensuring each child played a role in this collective practice. The most cherished achievement of the month was memorizing Ayat ul-Kursi—Alhamdulillah, most students succeeded in this challenge, reciting it beautifully with confidence.
In addition to Quranic recitations, we also discussed the significant nights of Ramadan, helping students understand the importance of these sacred occasions. They learned about:
Shab e Qadr, the Night of Power, and its immense blessings.
The Shahadat of Bibi Khadija (s) and her immense sacrifices for Islam.
The Wiladat of Imam Hasan (a) and his legacy of patience and generosity.
The Shahadat of Imam Ali (a) and his unwavering devotion to justice and truth.
A truly inspiring lesson this Ramadan was the importance of charity. Our students enthusiastically took part in a special initiative where they tried their best to save money for the future development of their school building. Through this, they learned the value of giving, the rewards of Sadaqah, and the impact of collective efforts in bringing positive change.
This journey also contributed to their life skills—discipline, patience, and perseverance—as they consistently engaged in these daily practices. Ramadan at Al Haadi was not just a time for learning; it was a month of growth, unity, and transformation.
May Allah (SWT) accept their efforts and grant them endless rewards. Ameen!
