Our grade 8s had the opportunity to visit the R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant as part of their Science class today (yes! on a Saturday – ceasing learning opportunities never stop at Al Haadi School thanks to our selfless teachers). The plant was constructed in the 1930s, and is the largest of the City of Torontoās four water treatment plants, providing an average of 400 million litres of safe drinking water to residents in Toronto and York Region each day. The R. C. Harris is also the largest ensemble of Art Deco buildings in Toronto, providing an excellent example of how Art Deco style can integrate with Late Romanesque Revival and Modern Classical forms.
